Elgin, Illinois, January 30, 2013 — Dentistry is becoming more than seeing the dentist twice a year. It’s revolutionizing health care. Now to Wow Hygiene Consulting founder Stephanie Lodding, RDH is a subject matter expert on the detection and treatment of periodontal health, in which multiple studies have proven improper treatment of periodontal disease leads to more severe health risks. According to the American Academy of Periodontology, 64.7 million adults 30 years or older suffer from periodontal disease, and those individuals are twice as likely to suffer from heart disease coronary artery disease, or a fatal heart attack. Research has shown that periodontal disease is associate with other chronic inflammatory diseases such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
Loddings’ expertise of the epidemic from periodontal disease doesn’t go unnoticed. On Jan. 31, Jeff Roldan, California documentary director and founder of Roldan Films, will be interviewing Lodding at the Smile For Life Dental offices, along with other highly regarded industry and educational professionals, regarding her expertise in periodontal dentistry. Her insight will be presented on the documentary The Cavity In Healthcare Reform, which will be highlighting periodontal disease, the necessity of treatment, and the effects on the entire body if left untreated. The documentary will be releasing in early May.
